History in the making
Every now and then, something comes along that is SO IMPORTANT that things like bedtimes and schedules are worth throwing out the window. Tonight was one of those times. We had Lucy take a very late (and thankfully long) nap, then gathered with friends to watch history being made. What a late and great night. Lucy wore her "Obama girl" t-shirt, watched some of the speech, played with her stickers, stuffed herself with guacamole, ate all the frosting off of her (and Chad's) cake, and called Sasha and Malia Obama, "my sweet girls."
Morning after update--even after going to bed at 11pm, she was bright eyed and bushy tailed an hour EARLIER than usual at 6am. She told us that her favorite part of the speech last night was the clapping. And when she saw this new future first family picture, she said, "his daughters came out!" Even though her parents are extra tired today, we're glad we decided to get Lucy so far off her schedule. I'm sure some parents 45 years ago thought, "nah, MLK's speech is during jr's nap," and regretted it later. No regrets here.

Here's to the hope that the first president Lucy will remember will be Barack Obama.
YES WE CAN!!!

I am convinced that the clip of Lucy saying who the next president will be is going to go down in history. It was a great night!
