Lucy Anne has had a big week with many outings since last we posted. Her first outing was her 1 week visit to the pediatrician, where our little nursing champ wowed the staff by weighing in at 8 lbs, 8 oz. (1 whole pound heavier than when she was discharged from the hospital). Since the goal is that babies will simply get back their birth weight within 2 weeks, this was quite an accomplishment. That day we also ran an errand and went out to lunch, both of which she slept through. Friday we went to Creighton to show her off to Nathan's colleagues and ran a few more errands, and Lucy slept through it all. On Saturday, Lucy slumbered her way through a fantastic visit to the Omaha Farmers Market and lunch in Old Market. Sunday brought a lovely stroll and lunch at the Botanical gardens...more snoozes for Lucy (seen below).
Grandma and Grandpa were also here from Minnesota this weekend for their second visit, which gave Lucy more shoulders to sleep on.

This last adventure doesn't have anything to do with napping, but we thought we should practice a little truth in advertising. Lucy is a great napper. She's also USUALLY a pretty mellow baby and when she fusses she's relatively easy to console. But every now and then she just wants to let loose and release a primal scream...the picture below is after a bath:

Luckily, her dad has become a master at soothing her under such circumstances, following the advice of Dr. Karp from The Happiest Baby on the Block. On this particular evening, he was overheard saying to Lucy, "Just notice here, Lucy, that Dad's trying to comfort you while Mama is taking pictures..." I know this probably will get old after awhile, but for now, even her screams are cute.

I see that Lucy takes after her Auntie Angel, she likes her naps! I can't wait to see you guys next week
Love, Angel
And, also like her Auntie Angel, she knows how to scream her head off when needed... : )
