2 going on 20?
Lucy's desire for independence has reached new heights. This weekend, she started trying to rock to sleep "all by my SELF!" She climbs on the rocking chair by herself, sings "baa baa black sheep" and "twinkle twinkle," and even asked mama to "go out the door." Mama talked her into allowing her to sit on the bed while she rocked herself, and after the two songs, she crawled down and said, "now YOU! I want to sit on your lap." Mama was relieved to still have a small role in the bedtime routine. : )

In other developments, after Lucy remembered to say "yes please" and no parent made a big deal out of it, she said, "do you love my manners?" And after Lucy had a coughing spell, Lucy and Sheri had the following conversation...

Lucy: say, "you want some water?"
Sheri: Do you want some water?
Lucy: Oh! Well, yes, thank you!

And finally, while playing legos with Sheri, Lucy said, "look at my beautiful tower, mama! I so proud for building it!" Despite having a cold, girlfriend has been good for some much needed chuckles this weekend.
