It seems the week has sort of gotten away from us and we haven't yet posted some happy pics of our trip to see the Godmamas in Lawrence. We got out and went to parks, went to lunch, colored on the driveway with sidewalk chalk, and just had fun hanging out. But the very best thing, hands down, is pictured here:
Today (Friday) is a big day for Lucy. She has ear tube surgery this morning at 11:10 (the set she had put in last July have fallen out so she's started getting infections again). She could only have clear liquids for breakfast, and that had to be before 7:10am, so we got her up at 6:45 and made her an apple juice slushie, which we called her "special funny breakfast." It's 8am now and she's not complaining about being hungry yet, so we're feeling relieved. We have to be at the hospital at 9:40, and we plan to leave pretty soon and stop at the park on the way for distraction. Lucy knows that we're going to Children's Hospital to see the fishies and for the doctor to fix her ears and doesn't seem too worried about it. We should be home in the early afternoon and she'll be tired, but if last year is any indication she will be pretty much back to her old self by the evening and hopefully we can have a fun weekend. More later!
Post-op update: Everything went fine at the hospital and we were home about 1pm. Not eating or drinking wasn't as big a deal as we feared it might be. Lucy had a couple of maniacal temper tantrums while coming off the meds (they had warned us that she might be "fussy"--HA!). She's certainly capable of a pretty good tantrum, even when she hasn't just had a medical procedure, but these were a little extra special. After a nice nap, she was much more herself. She got to pick what she wanted for dinner and she chose pancakes, so we went out to Village Inn in celebration of her ears being on the mend.

We send love, hugs, and kisses... and LOTS of good wishes!
Hope everything at the hospital goes quickly and easily, and everyone gets through with flying colors.

News on the ear tube procedure is great! Can't wait to see you all in a few days.

Yum - what are Lori, Lucy and Boo mixing up here?
They are brownies. And I look really goofy in that first picture, Sheri. Seriously!!

Sorry, but that's just how you look when you're hanging with Lucy. She brings the goofy out in you.
