"That's my glare!"
The above was uttered by young Lucy in her own defense the first time she freaked out one of her teachers with this little beaut of a facial expression. This all started with one of her dinosaur books--I think it's How do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food? Anyway, there's a line that says, "Does a dinosaur GLARE?" with a picture of a glaring brontosaurus. In the book, the answer is "no" because dinosaurs are always cooperative and do what their parents ask. And so far, Lucy has never glared because she's mad, just because she's trying to be funny or because someone says, "let me see your glare." The picture doesn't quite do justice to the glare in all its newly mastered glory, but it's close. I shudder to think how I will react when the day comes that she is seriously glaring at me, but for now it's hilarious.

She could make me clean up my room with that glare!
Love it.

That is too wonderful. I have now shown everyone on my hallway... They all decided I could cut the two pictures out and laminate them back to back. One side would say, "Don't talk to me now," and the other would say, "C'mon in!"

Truer words were never spoken. Than is definitely a Nathan look, I know because when he was Lucy's age he was my young one to drag around on adventures.....once I got him to agree it was ok to ride in something other than old gray.
o.k. who's that telling stories on old Dad here? Jeanette? Just because I had an affinity for a certain gray 68 Chevy Impala a guy never hears the end of it. Actually, if I could find another one and gas wasn't $5 a gallon I'd still never ride in anything else.
Lucy's glare may look like her old Dad but those curls and happy smiles are all her momma. I'm a lucky fella to have two beautiful girls.
Hey! I loved those days! I won you over and boy did we have fun! Not many young ones sat through college classes that young. And you helped me out getting projects done for classes. You were so smart and cute then....what happened? LOL Remember swimming at the apartments. Boy that day it was hard to drag both of us out of the pool until those rough necks or were they red necks showed up?
I love the glare followed by a big grin! She did that for us in Minnesota and it was hilarious.
Love,
Dad
Acting might be in Lucy's future, that 'glare-on-demand' is great.

ooohh ... that glare looks like one of a staunch conservative at the end of the Bush era ... incredulous; having come to the full realization that it was all a scam, with a $128B surplus turned into a $482B deficit under the guise of "tax cuts" (& w/ the war off the books), with ExxonMobil enjoying ongoing record profits, with Stevens, Craig and Co. still operating under their hallowed "ideals", and with only the Cheneys having an acceptable gay relationship in the family.
Are we better off now than we were 8 years ago?, I think Lucy tells it best with that look!!
