Bad Neighborhood

When we built Lucy's dream home, we only had a couple of options for where in the backyard it could go. We chose the, quiet, woodland setting with lots of shade. Turns out, there was a very bad neighbor lurking nearby.

Last weekend when we moved Lucy in to her new abode, we did all manner of weeding and brush clearing. No one gave a thought to the type of vines we were pulling until Sheri went to urgent care in itchy desperation while on her research trip in Kalamazoo for what she thought was a couple of infected mosquito bites or something. Oops--remember "leaves of three, let them be?" Clearly, the playhouse would have to find a new location. Thank goodness Lucy hadn't already rubbed against it while hanging out her back window. Today we discovered the benefits of a truly mobile home.

With any home improvement task, it is important that the homeowner be unafraid of getting her hands dirty (though this one is not very good about staying on task).

The new neighborhood boasts an open, sunny spot but lacks the character and interest that made her fall in love with her former locale. Here's the newly transported house BEFORE--a charming cottage in need of some TLC:

And AFTER--as you can see, the complete exterior redesign brings loads of new curb appeal. A little more sunscreen needed, but well worth the effort:

Thanks for being with us, we'll see you for the next episode of Trading Yard Spaces.

Oh dear! We're glad to read all is well and the new location is lovely. Perhaps Lucy can come over and help us with our landscaping.

We miss you!

I Love the new spot for Lucy's house! And it has a great front porch. Very cute. Hope you really have poison ivy and not shingles. You really should have mom take a look at it ! :) heehee
