Dear Nebraska,

Thank you for the lovely weather recently, especially this morning. We are sorry we said all those mean things about you this winter, especially daddy's very bad language. Today, because of your generosity with warmth and sunshine, we went to the park with Ruby. We got to ride on a tire swing together, and also play on the teetertotter (with a little help from our dads).

We fed some bread to the ducks and geese and also got to fly a kite! Ruby's mom and my mama did most of the flying and I watched, but they let us hold the kite for a little while. Thank you for the nice windy sky that held our Nemo kite up in the air, it was really fun to watch it fly around.

Please also pass along our appreciation to Omaha for having so many nice public spaces. The other day when mama was working on the taxes, she may have misspoke in her complaints. I think this morning was a good reminder to her that it costs money to have nice parks and that the money spent to give kids and their parents fun places to play is worth it! We literally have dozens of parks very close by--and enough others in the city that we haven't even come close to visiting them all. I can't wait until it's swimming weather and I can go again to the public pool just down the street.

Thank you also for all the flowers blooming in the front yard--there are yellow and white and purple crocuses and also some little purple irises. Thank you that daddy could go outside and dig up his garden this afternoon. It made him very happy to be able to plant some lettuce and carrots and kohlrabi and I can't wait to eat it all! Grass is starting to get green, buds are on the trees, and we get to go for walks in the evenings again.

We do hope you will forgive us for our thoughts back in February when we wished we never moved here. We really do love you all over again, Nebraska. We'll try much harder to stay faithful this time.

BFF,
Lucy

Thanks for the nice note Lucy! I wish I could be there to help you fly the kite and feed the ducks. Remember when we went there last time the pond was still frozen but you did go down the slide and rode the horse and the seal? I can't wait to see you in about 10 days.
Love,
Grandpa
