Rounding the bend to ONE

It was an eventful weekend in Lucyland, complete with a visit from Grandma and Grandpa. Lucy's language has just exploded. She now says more than 20 words, the funniest being "taco" "oh no oh no" and "getchu" (as in "I'm gonna get you"). She calls Grandpa something like "Bapa", but never really settled on something consistent for Grandma (sorry, mom). Below, you can see her saying "cheese." Even when she's just eating cheese for lunch and not smiling for the camera, it comes with the wrinkled up face. She tried to teach Bapa how to do it, too.

She loves to play in her room--it's the one room in the house that is totally childproofed, so she can do what she wants. Below, Liberlucy plays a tune on her piano.
She tries out those new top teeth (3, going on 4) on her first corn on the cob.

Finally, she engaged in her first social activism by marching (well, riding) in the Pride parade with our church. Last year she was there in utero as we marched, but this was her first time on the outside. And as you can see, it was an important moment for her. ; ) She seriously fell fast asleep sitting up in her stroller about halfway through the short parade route, oblivious to the cheering spectators. We guess she's probably not the first person to ever pass out during the Pride parade. . .

We reclined her stroller so she could take a proper nap while the rest of us enjoyed going out to lunch! Last year at this time we were going stark raving mad as we waited for Lucy to get here. Every night we'd go to bed wondering if she was going to wake us up that night and we were disappointed each morning when we woke up to the alarm. Little did we know that a year later we'd still be going to bed wondering if she is going to wake us up (and hoping against hope that she won't)! We're glad she's here and all, but we have to admit, the yard looked a lot better last year and the house has not been as clean since she arrived...

Jerry--she hasn't said that yet, but we have heard her saying something like "po-zi-ta-viz-im." Do you think that's a bad sign?

Sorry--just a little nerd theory talk. I'm sure that Jerry's one year old daughter, Nellie, will learn early to roll her eyes at her dad when he brings this kind of stuff up.
