Lucy and her friends and teachers have picnic lunches on the porch on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Today's picnic was enhanced with cupcakes, the birthday song, and a visit from mom and dad. Tomorrow the whole school is going to the zoo. Not technically in honor of Lucy's birthday, but she doesn't have to know that.
Lucy started her day with a birthday serenade by mom and dad. "What is this strange new morning ritual?" she wonders.
Here's Lucy all dressed for school on her birthday, and mom's first attempt at an "official" picture with the 1 YEAR sign. Lucy tossed it aside and picked out a book, instead. Hey--it's the girl's birthday, she can do what she wants.
A moment of quiet reflection before the festivities... Tonight Lucy will have her first birthday dinner with mom and dad (pizza--a new favorite), eat another cupcake, and open just a few presents. On Friday, Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle Dave and Aunt Susie arrive from Minnesota. The big "duckie" theme party will be Saturday evening. More to come.
