Rollin', rollin', rollin'. . .

Supposedly, babies should learn to roll from front to back first and can do that by as early as 2-3 months. It's not usually until about 5 months that they tend to roll back to front. Our Lucy has got it all backwards. At 3.5 months, she still has no interest in rolling front to back. But back to front, well, see for yourself. She eyes the target and begins the windup:

Swings her legs up and to the left (it's all in the legs):

Aaaaaaand she's over, showing off the cute ruffles on her butt:

Here's a better angle of the big finish:

The only problem is that darn left arm that gets pinned underneath. Pulling that arm free is the part of the rolling sequence that usually eludes her and often makes her cry. Then Mama or Daddy roll her over onto her back again and, forgetting the frustration of the finish, she starts the process over almost immediately.

That's pretty much how we spent the weekend. We (meaning Sheri and Nathan) also had our first night out without Lucy (which was actually less than 1.5 hours) because Grandma Sue and Grandpa Al were here to share in the fun and were willing to babysit. We realized as we walked to the car that this was the first time we had driven off together by ourselves since the morning of June 27th when we drove to the hospital to have the tests that led to being induced. This time we went to a party at one of Nathan's coworkers' houses. It was a little strange, but also nice to get to be a couple again and socialize in the adult world. We hope we'll get to go out again sometime before the next 15 weeks elapse! Maybe for an hour and 45 minutes next time...

Go Lucy.

This is hilarious. I finally get over to this blog. I am checking out Lucy's very fine roll. And I turn around and Nellie has completed her first roll from back to front--at least the first while in Daddy's care. Roll was complete with arm pin.

She still can't do it consistently. Which pisses her off.

Blogs rule.
