Lucy's big move

The first picture on the left is from the first week our little peanut was home from the hospital. She seemed so tiny in the bassinet in our room. The second picture was from this week, at about 3 1/2 months. If she were to lie perfectly still, she could still sleep comfortably in the bassinet. But with her scootching around, grabbing the fabric and pulling it on top of herself, and hitting the sides with her hands and feet (and thus waking herself up) . . . it became apparent that it was finally time for her to move out of mom and dad's room to her own crib in her own room. She made the move with no problems. Mom and dad, on the other hand, have had some adjusting to do. We slept in her room the first night so we could hear her and see her. After one night of her sleeping wonderfully in her crib but us tossing and turning in the not so comfortable bed in her room, we decided to move back to our own bed the next night. But we have to admit we miss her. We miss hearing her little noises and just knowing that she's right there. And we're kind of sad to realize that we're on to a new phase and she's never again going to be that tiny little peanut we fell in love with on June 28th.

At the same time, we are excited about new developments. She's sitting upright (with the help of her bumbo chair) a little more easily, she's able to suck on her fingers whenever she wants, she's grabbing toys, she's playing with her feet, she's rolling side to side and sometimes all the way over from back to front, she's saying a wider range of vowel sounds, and she generally just seems to be getting more fun all the time. Here's a belated posting of a picture of Lucy in the bumbo chair, taken on her 3 month birthday. Time sure flies!!
