April showers bring May/June...showers...

We've been extremely grateful over the past couple of months to be surrounded by lots of friends who want to help us get ready to welcome Lucy into the world. It all started with a suprise shower thrown by Sheri's college friends during their annual get together (held in Omaha this year), which was a delight. There are several moms in the group who dispensed wisdom and advice along with presents. Look how well we 've all held up since graduating from KU in the "early 90s" (above right).

The second shower was in MN, hosted by Trudy (a friend of Sheri's mom) and attended by Angel who flew in from Utah for the event. Above left are the S** women before the shower, and below is a pic capturing the party in action. Then we moved on to May, which included showers thrown by Sheri's colleages, Chad and Erika (below on the couch with Erika's girls and Katie, another colleague) and Nathan's colleagues (see how well Nathan cuts the cake at the library shower).

Our June shower had a bit of an alternative theme, and we unfortunately forgot to take pictures. Carol, the chair of the Outreach committee (which we both serve on) at our church volunteered to host a shower for us, and we decided to make it a shower that would focus on Lucy's spiritual development and social consciousness. It was a lovely time and Lucy got gifts like religious books that emphasize diversity and justice, a few CDs, and several donations in her name to OTOC, a local group advocating for justice issues that Nathan has volunteered for. This shower was held only 13 days before her due date, so we were glad that she didn't decide to surprise us by coming 2 weeks early.

Lucy is a lucky girl to have so many people excited about her arrival!
