We're 9 days away from Lucy's due date (but who's counting?) and are getting anxious to meet her. Sheri has turned in summer school grades, the house is ready, the car seats are installed, her room is all set up, the hospital bags are packed... In short, we've got everything in place except Lucy herself. Until she makes her move, we're trying to avoid going stir crazy by doing fun things we won't get to do for awhile (like enjoying free time and going to movies). We thought you might enjoy seeing where our little girl is going to live. Here are some before and after shots of her room, and also a shot of the bassinet in our room where she'll sleep (hopefully!) at nights during the first few months. The bassinet, BTW, is a family hand me down that dates back to Aunt Julie's infancy in the 50's and was slept in by many kids in the Matney family, including Sheri and both of her siblings. If Lucy were ever to be short on family love, which is doubtful, the bassinet will literally surround her with it!
Before: An empty room that was once our home office/guest room--note Harper the cat enjoying the process of home decorating & Nathan showing off his painting prowess.
And after:

Sheri actually sewed things for Lucy's room, which involved much creativity and (given her lack of experience with sewing) a bit of swearing now and then. The bumper pad, crib dust ruffle, and curtains are all a result of her handiwork! Oh, and don't forget the bulletin board hanging above the diaper changing station... Despite how well everything turned out, Sheri made Nathan promise that if there's ever a need for a new bumper pad or dust ruffle, he will assertively encourage her to PURCHASE these items at the store.
We hope that some of you can visit Omaha sometime soon to meet Lucy and check out our cute little house which is soon to be for three! Don't worry, even though we've lost 1 guest room upstairs, we still have a comfy guest room in the basement. Plus, since Lucy's going to sleep in our room for the first few months, the bed in her room is still available throughout the summer. With a cute baby and these enticing accomodations awaiting you, how can you resist?

Sheri and Nathan--
Lucy's room looks wonderful! I love the cheerful yellow walls, the festive curtains and the inclusive rug! How could anyone have a bad day in that room?!
Looking forward to seeing Lucy soon!

Lucy is really beautiful. She looks wide eyed and interested in her surroundings. Seeing her in Grandma Susie's arms, is very special to me.
Love to all of you, good job!!!
