2008…the highlights
If you aren't a regular blog reader and just want a quick update on the Omaha SM3, look no further. This is our virtual Christmas letter.

2008 at our house included continued relief at Lucy’s recovery, our darling nephew Gavin (son of Angel and Russ) born in early January, new stress at discovering Lucy’s possible immune deficiency, eventual “all clear” on immunity issues, Lucy speaking in paragraphs, Grandma Shirley moved from Wyoming to a nursing home in Minnesota, “I’m not a baby, I’m a BIG toddler!”, Sheri getting tenure and promotion at Creighton, fabulous work/play trip to Oregon and Washington, Lucy showing early signs of musical talent by learning

every word to every song in school (and on her CDs), lots of visits with extended family in Minnesota, Lucy turning 2 in June with an Elmo birthday party, the appearance of Lucy’s very strong will in the form of occasional temper tantrums, “no no NOT! Never never!”, great trip to see Nathan’s family in Alabama, meeting baby Walter (son of good friends Will and Laura in Alabama), wonderful visit in from Shuler grandparents and Aunt Karen, grieving for our beloved Uncle Tommy, Lucy trick or treating with cousins in Utah, concern about health scares with Nathan’s aunts and uncles, “I want to live in the trees, with the squirrels,” OBAMA WON!!!, Dave and Susie hosting us for Thanksgiving, Sheri and Nathan’s first no-kid getaway trip to wine country, Lucy still freaking out at Santa, “Let’s all 3 of us snuggle,” parties for Sheri’s college friends all turning the big 4-0 this year (how can that be?)...looking forward to a trip with Sheri’s family to Phoenix to celebrate her big day.

What a year! Hope all is well where you are. Be in touch in 2009.

Okay, okay! I logged on. Glad to see the oictures and have a one-way visit. I am on sabbatical this spring, but cranking to get my book edited in the next 10 days, then campaign 08 writing committments, THEN sabbatical project. Be glad you don't have to suffer BB as chair. Since you just got tenure, do you get a sabbtical too? It's all I can think about, because if you think turning 40 makes your head spin, wait until you are facing down sixty!!!--Janis Edwards
We are just back home from a wonderful trip to Phoenix with all the children, spouses and grandchildren plus a side trip to Idaho to visit Alan's mom and dad and celebrate birthdays (and New Year's Eve) for Grandma Nola, Grandpa George and Aunt Karen, then back to SLC to celebrate cousin Gavin's first birthday!
After 76 degrees in Phoenix it is a bit of a downer to arrive to 20 degrees and 3 inches of new snow.
Love,
Dad
