Earning her keep

Spring has officially hit the midlands and we've all burst out of our houses for outdoor activities. Tonight Lucy and parents did some gardening, and this was the first time Lucy has been able to participate. It started with a visit to our favorite nursery on the way home from school, where Lucy got to pick out a few flowers and charm the workers. After dinner, we headed to the front yard to plant our windowboxes.

Lucy loved helping daddy rinse off the boxes with the hose!

Lucy "helped" mama plant, but mostly enjoyed taking dirt OUT of the boxes by the handful and spreading it on herself.

Tonight during bedtime prayers, she told us that playing with the flowers and the dirt, "make a happy." We can't think of any better thing for the daughter of two garden enthusiasts to be thankful about!!

In this shot, Lucy was taking fistfulls of dirt and offering them to Sheri, saying, "dirt for mama." Not actually helpful, but sweet nonetheless.

Seriously, though. She needs to start pulling some of her weight around here. When do you think we can teach her how to use a trowel and get her to pull weeds?

So many flowers, so little time. Isn't life grand?

Hey Julie, nice to hear from you! We're happy to know that anyone loves Lucy, even if you are a stalker. ; )

BTW, check in the comments section on that "hats" post--I cleared up the mystery there.
