Best Buds
Anyone who has spent time around our cat, Harper, knows that she doesn't fit most people's definition of "friendly." She's nice to us, but she has been known to hiss or growl at people. We're sorry to say she has even cornered and frightened a visitor now and then (Angel, for one, and also the Godmamas' dog, Nikki). So we couldn't be more surprised (or pleased) that one person who Harper tolerates is Lucy. In fact, we think she even enjoys her. And Lucy LOVES Harper. They have an understanding, and a little routine. Lucy gets down on her level, right in her face, and says with great enthusiasm, "Hi Harpah, it's Lucy!"

"Dat Harpah's toe"

"I kiss a toe" (and, by the way, she kissed each of Harper's paws about 5 times)

I didn't get a picture of this, but after Lucy pet Harper for awhile, she said, "Nice petting, say tank you, Harpah" and also explained to mama, "I talkin' to Harpah." Lucy also loves to answer Harper's "meow" with a louder and more enthusiastic "meow" right back at her. Then she usually giggles.

Lucy hasn't totally given up on Sojo, but doesn't get any further than "hi Sojo" or a quick pet now and then. Sojo's a bit grumpier with Lucy and just doesn't give off a "chat with me" vibe.

We keep trying to get one of these kitty convos on video, but for now you'll just have to use your imagination with pictures and transcripts. This toddler thing keeps getting more fun.

What a sweet series of pictures. Harper doesn't seem to mind at all. It is fun to imagine Lucy talking, what a precious little girl.

That damn cat scares the HELL out of me! I'm glad Lucy has gotten on her good side-maybe she can teach me how to make friends with Harper.

It is shocking that the very cat that growled, hissed, and planned to kill me is so loving. What gives? Come on, are you SURE it's the same cat? Julie
