HAPPY NEW LU!

Despite the fact that the Toddler New Year countdown is at 7:59, we all had a great time celebrating the end of 2007 last night with Ruby and parents. And we were home before most partiers even left their houses to go out for the night... At 8, we all blew on noisemakers and kissed. Though Lucy couldn't get the hang of the noisemaker, she embraced the kissing mission with enthusiasm. At home, after about 20 takes, Lucy FINALLY let mama capture her New Year's greetings on camera. Hit play--even with the low quality, it's worth it!
The night before, birthday girl Mama and her sweeties enjoyed dinner and a carriage ride in Old Market and then some birthday cake (made by Daddy) at our house. We shared the ride with Ruby and her parents and the girls had a great time getting a ride by a horsie named Strike.

The next day, Lucy talked all about the horsie ride, the clop clop noise the hooves made (which she does with her tongue), the blankets the driver gave us to use, and "Ruby pay a Lucy house" (hopefully you can fill in the missing
l, t, and
's to figure out the meaning of the sentence). Here, the girls enjoy sharing their pasta at dinner:

Daddy starts full time work tomorrow, and Lucy will start school a few days after that to give Mama time to get ready for the semester to begin the next week. Here's to a far more boring 2008...Lucy's cute pronunciation of the greeting seems particularly appropriate. It's not just a new year, it's a new healthy Lucy we're celebrating. So we're proposing a change to the traditional greeting from "happy new year" to Lucy's version. Happy New Lu to everyone!
