Saturday was Lucy's 10 month birthday and she celebrated by taking two nice long naps, playing outside at the park, and going out to lunch. She's a really nice dining companion, as long as we pick a place that is "baby friendly" (meaning really fast service, highchairs, and diners who don't care about a little baby noise). She is trying little bits of a lot of what we eat, preferring to feed herself instead of eat from a spoon. She had a chicken and cheese quesadilla and some 3 bean salad at her birthday lunch.
Lucy's pulling up like crazy now and pretty much spends her time in the house crawling from object to object to test and see if she can use it to push up to a stand. The funniest attempted push up object this weekend was Harper the cat, who put up with it for a few minutes before making herself scarce. We continue to be amazed at her patience with Lucy. Other recent firsts are hand clapping, doing the "more" sign, crawling up stairs, saying "HI!!" when either a parent or a pet enters the room, identifying your nose or mouth or eye when prompted, and crawling over to the bookshelf to pick out a book. She seems to be saying a word that sounds like "gook" that we THINK means "book." She is also working on names for the pets and is enjoying making the "g" sound. Grandma and Grandpa will be here next weekend, so we'll see if she can put that "g" to real use...Hope you have a great week!
