Life of the party

Despite a big snowstorm, Lucy got out and about to socialize this weekend. Saturday night, she had dinner over at Ruby's (the 'rents were there, too). Then on Sunday, she and mom went to an Oscars party over at Uncle Chad's house while poor dad had to work.

Above, Lucy's kickin' it with her buddy, Ruby. Below with Uncle Chad at her first Oscars night party.

Lucy rolled around on the red carpet in sequined jeans, because you just have to look hip at an Oscar party. Chad is Sheri's colleague and one of our really good friends, and he has really wanted to bond with Lucy since day one. Everything was great at first, but somewhere around 3 months, Lucy decided that he was scary and started screaming every time he held her. We have no clue what was going on--he is usually really good with kids and seems to be doing everything right. We'd be at a social event and she'd be fine with other people, but burst into tears when he held her. But the magic of Oscar night won her over and the two were tight all night long. She was still having a great time rolling around and playing with Chad when mom rudely made her leave to get to bed at a decent time on a school night. We'll never know who won all those awards, but it's okay, since mom and dad only saw ONE movie nominated in any category this year ("An Inconvenient Truth" which won best documentary). Normally, Sheri would panic and try to drag Nathan to all the movies in the last two weeks before the awards. This year she simply conceded defeat. Maybe next year!

We were so sorry to miss the festivities, but less sorry to miss the snowstorm! We miss y'all and will try to reschedule for some Lucy-love!
