Lucy's 1/2 year birthday came and went, kind of overshadowed by Christmas and New Years and holiday visits and starting school. At her 6 month checkup she weighed a whoppin' 18 pounds and 14 ounces (95% for those keeping score) and measured 28 inches long (97%). There's a lot of her to love.
Before we get to her 7 month birthday, we should probably recap her recent feats. First is sitting. She can now sit whenever and wherever she wants (floor, lap, bathtub, highchair, etc.). This skill was acquired just in time for Christmas and has been handy for starting school. Since Lucy's one of the youngest in her class and among the few who aren't mobile, being able to sit and watch all the action has been fun for her.So that leads us to the second big thing--going to school. While she had a few sad moments on day one, Lucy has totally gotten the hang of being at Montessori. She gets so excited when we arrive to drop her off that she wiggles her arms and legs around while we unstrap her from the carseat and happily goes to one of her teachers to start her day. The downside is that, while she loves being with the other kids, they make her sick. She had a brief 6 day honeymoon period before getting her first bad cold with pinkeye, a cough, and now an ear infection. We think her nickname at school must be "Fresh Meat."

Speaking of meat (or strained fruits and vegetables, actually), Lucy's eating several types. Well, truth be told, "eating" is a misnomer. She mouths rice cereal and about 8 or 9 fruits and vegetables, getting far more on her person than down the hatch. And she's learned that it makes us laugh when she purses her lips tightly and shakes her head "no" when the spoon is coming at her. But she's officially eating SOME food each day now. It's great to have her in her highchair during dinner so we can all talk and eat together.
A final recent change is she is no longer keen on lying down on a foam pad in the bathtub now that she's a sitter. Take a look at what we found to replace it--Lucy loves it so much that she gets excited when she first hears the tub water running. The first time we put her in the duckie tub, she nearly hyperventilated with glee. Bathtime is one of our favorite times of the day now...

What a happy kiddo you've got! I'm so glad she likes her days at House of Montessori (still digging that name).
Hugs and kisses to the almost-7-month-old!

Can I just say what a great thing it is to open my computer and find ms. lucy (and her sweet daddy) smiling at me..and to think that she has no idea yet that she's one of my new best friends!
love y'all.

Lucy's a lucky gal to have so many aunties and friends and godparents who love her (not to mention the family members)! Now if y'all could just come here and help take care of her when she's sick like aunties should...
I would gladly leave work to come take care of Lucy...but that naggy little matter of my paycheck holds me back! :)
I do wish we lived in the same town...you'd never be able to get rid of us, I fear!
Boo
I want to see a photo of Nathan in the duckie tub
-Love, pervert aunt in Salt Lake City
Hang on to that duck tub, Lucy! It's unlikely you'll ever again bathe in anything so comfortable and entertaining.
It's like having a water fowl jacuzzi!
Love,
Your pal, Ian
LOL, Alison just bought Nellie that same duckie tub. Lucy looks like she is getting more fun out of it. Nellie was primarilly excited that she could extend her legs fully in the tub again. This led to a reboot of her frenetic bath tub kick splashing. I need to get a photo of her face while she does it. Tongue hanging out, total focus, kinda frightening.
No, it is *not* inheritted.
