Lucy gal is doing great. She's finally getting over being sick (we hope) after two weeks and will go back to school on Monday. That's the plan anyway, cross your fingers for us! Mama and Daddy really could each use a full work week... She's making new sounds all the time and sometimes we think her babbling sounds like it could be words. She says dadadada and mamamama a lot (along with several other sounds), and we know she probably doesn't know what they mean, but sometimes it just seems like too much of a coincidence just WHEN she says them. Even when sick, she's just really fun to be with. She's smiley, she gets excited and giggles easily, and enjoys picking up and tasting most things she comes in contact with. Below, the performance artist experiments with using a her face as a canvas for a teething biscuit:

You can't really tell what she's reaching for in the bottom right corner of that second picture, but it's Harper the cat. People who know our pets would be shocked at Harper's patience with Lucy. She deliberately will come and lie or stand next to her and let Lucy grab her ears or fur and has never once hissed or even shown distress at Lucy's antics. When she's had enough, she simply gets up and walks away for awhile, but will come back for more later on. We're trying to teach Lucy to be gentle, but know that her comprehension of this concept is awhile off yet. Nevertheless, the two of them are becoming buds. Sojo, on the other hand, eyes Lucy with suspicion and sometimes growls at her. It's total role reversal in our household, the friendly and lovable companion is grumpy with Lucy while the animal who is known to hiss at and be mean to visitors is a sweetie pie. Go figure.

Uhmmm...someone needs to have a talk with Sojo about the genetics of loyalty. Not that your household would ever indulge any species supremacist thinking (perish the thought), but there is that old "blood is thicker than water" thing.
Say hello to Ryan for us...I am surpressing a tinge of resentment that he is getting to visit Lucy before me.
