Lucy and parents found out Thursday that the bun that's been cooking in Auntie Angel's oven is a boy, due to be finished January 1st. It all seems much more real now that we've seen the picture and can talk about the little guy as a "he." And we'll have to, as they haven't thought of any names yet. Sheri and Nathan, who were reading baby name books before even conceiving, can't really relate to that.
Lucy will be able to hand down fewer clothes over the years, but other than that we couldn't be more thrilled. They'll be almost exactly 18 months apart, and except for the first year when they will seem SO different in age, the two of them will get to grow up with a fun cousin playmate. We plan to think of him as Lucy's baby cousin/brother and we hope they will have fun over the years playing both dolls AND baseball together. Hopefully before he's born we can teach Lucy to be more gentle with babies than is her current m.o.--taking her baby doll out of the toy basket and throwing her down on her head. Also, hopefully Angel's son will eventually become more photogenic and less alien-like so he doesn't scare Lucy...
