Happy Holidays
from Lucy's house!
from Lucy's house!
If you are new to the blog after getting our Christmas card or haven't been here in awhile, posts are archived by the month over on the right of the screen, so you can look at as much or as little as you want to! You can just scroll down for the more recent posts. You can enlarge a picture by clicking on it, and you can talk back by clicking on the "comments" section in the lower right corner of each entry. In sitting down to try to write about the year in review, it's hard to think of anything to say about the first six months. We slept more and read for pleasure and went to movies and did some traveling and waited for Lucy to get here. We loved our life together before Lucy. But now we can't really even remember what it used to feel like before her! We are doing just great in our first six months as a threesome (Lucy turns 6 months on 12-28-06). We are learning that a full night's sleep is an occasional gift to be savored, but that it's possible to function rather well on less. We are also realizing that our household needs to be a bit more organized if we're going to have clean clothes to wear and food to eat. We are now awed by single parents or anyone who has twins or even people who have more than one child! Lucy is full of giggles and smiles, growing like crazy, and learning new things every day. Her latest is that she can sit up for 2-3 minutes on her own before toppling over. Oh, and she's learned how to force a laugh and fake a cough. We're not sure exactly how these skills will serve her, but I'm sure we'll learn. . .
We've enjoyed many fun visitors since Lucy's arrival and have just felt surrounded by the love of our family and friends during this season of our lives. We're headed up to Minnesota on the 22nd to spend Lucy's first Christmas with Grandma Sue and Grandpa Al and Uncle Dave and Aunt Susie. We talk about wanting to start our own traditions and have Christmas at our own house, but this year Lucy doesn't have a clue what's going on. We figure we can always start those new traditions next year. To finish off the year, our dear friends Will and Laura Anderson from Birmingham are venturing up to meet their goddaughter.
We are truly blessed. We hope that wherever you are this holiday season that you are surrounded by people you love. Our prayer for 2007 is centered on peace--in our lives, in our communities, and in our world. Let us hear from you!

Its been quite a year, has it not? In addition to the new baby we have had the new job, new house, new town--us a little more compressed than you--but still.
Glad to see your family coming out to see you so much. We want to come. We will, in the not too distant future.
