It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

We've been talking a lot about whether Lucy was going to sit on Santa's lap this year. The past two years involved Lucy sitting on Mama's lap (who was sitting on Santa's lap). Last year, she said, "maybe when I'm 3, I'll like Santa." We started this season with her saying "no way" to sitting on Santa's lap, but the more her friends talked about it at school, the more she began to warm up to the idea. Finally, yesterday, she faced her fears and declared that, "Santa was nice and I was happy on his lap!"

Always the ham, Lucy enjoyed singing (and doing a little unauthorized interpretive dance) with the kids' choir at church yesterday. They will also sing "Away in a Manger" for the Christmas Eve service in a few days.

Earlier in December, we got to light the advent wreath in church and also had a visit from Lucy's grandparents for some Christmas fun.

Last, but certainly not least, Lucy got a new sled and we took advantage of lots of snow and mild temperatures yesterday to try it out. Lucy helped Nathan have his first sledding adventure (this was the second...the first involved an unfortunate rolling incident that Sheri didn't capture on camera). We're supposed to have another snowstorm later this week, so the polar flyer is bound to get more use soon.

Sheri's still grading, but we're all looking forward to a cozy Christmas at home and then a quick trip up to Minnesota to see family between Christmas and New Year. Hope everyone is safe and warm and enjoying the season!

That last photo has the distinct look of a "before" picture.
