Olympia & Tacoma
Our work week in Olympia and Tacoma was rainy but great--a mixture of work, tourism, play, and hanging with friends. We stayed right on the waterfront and could walk to parks and restaurants. The capitol grounds were beautiful, and Lucy especially enjoyed watching the dancing water fountain at the park. Lucy became a fan of clam chowder, and had it 3 times while we were in Olympia.

Dexter and Sharon and their fabulous daughter, Amara, played hosts on Thursday night. Dexter and Sheri were colleagues in Alabama, both starting in their first academic jobs out of grad school in the same year. In fact, Amara was born the first weekend we all lived there! They now live in Gig Harbor and work in Tacoma and it was nice to catch up and see their beautiful corner of the world.

Dexter took us to a rocky beach overlooking the Puget Sound and with a nice view of the Tacoma Narrows bridge. We saw a sea lion's head bobbing in the surf, but Lucy was more interested in the slugs. She'd crouch next to a slug and say, "Hi slug! Say hi to Lucy!"

We headed to Seattle Friday to hang with Kim and Mannie and Lucas--stay tuned!

Thanks for sharing. The godmamas are in NC with julie hart who has also fallen under lucy's spell, so last night after we found these pics, we showed her the entire lucy collection from our computers...it was a great fun!

We'll be back in the midlands on the 15th and will be in touch.

Much love to you all.
